Hello everyone!
My first post in my reflective journal! This is the place you can follow my journey and process as a Graphic Design student.
I have just started my first year studying Graphic Design at Noroff and I am very excited (also a bit nervous to be honest).
Here I will post my Lesson Tasks and Course Assignments. I think it’s brilliant to have all my work posted in a blog, so that I can learn to be confident in showing off my work (something that I am not so good at now), I will also develop the way I reflect and express myself. I can also receive feedback from fellow students (or others) and it will be so much fun looking back at it myself to see where I started and what I have learned.
So, how did I end up choosing to study Graphic Design?
It started about 6 months ago. I had a good, full time job working with IT in a telecom company, but I just started to feel that I really wanted to do something about the dreams that I have, to pursue what I really want to do in life. I have always been creative since I was little. I love to draw, write and paint, but I have not been able to find my «place» in the creative world. So, I just went another way when I was younger and have had all the creativity as a hobby. I was never sure where to start or how to pursue my creativity as a job.
I started to look around and found Graphic Design at Noroff! This was exactly what I was looking for and it felt so right the more I was reading about it. This was also during corona, so I thought to myself that it probably wasn’t the best idea to quit my full time job and become a student? I ended up following my heart! (My previous boss was the sweetest by the way and understood me completely:-)).
That’s why I chose Graphic Design at Noroff. I get to do what I love and put it into my work-life.
In this first post, we had a task to include a self-portrait that should not be a photograph and we had to be creative with it. I began to think of how I could include an image that would show «who I am». Since I love to draw, I decided I wanted to draw a picture of myself.
To show «who I am» I thought that I should include things that I love. I started to write down keywords of things that I really love and drew a drawing of me, then I included all the words also as drawings.
