One of the final task this week we were given a teaspoon and we were to apply the SCAMPER method and give a explanation of what new product comes of this and how it can be marketed.
I began to think of how i use a teaspoon today, in the everyday, I use it mostly in a tea or a coffee. The one thing that bothers me a lot, is that when i drink the tea/coffee with the teaspoon in it, the spoon falls back on my nose. So, this is the product I came up with and how the SCAMPER method was applied to it:
Sketch:

Substitute – I have replaced the original teaspoon with a “new” product, the clip/pinch, but have not effected the product itself.
Combine – I combined both the spoon and the clip/pinch and therefore making it a new product.
Adapt – The clip/pinch is there so the spoon can be fasten to the cup while drinking tea/coffee. I have adapted and improved the existing product.
Modify – I have modifed the the design and the look of the spoon, the idea with the clip/pinch on top was to make it look like a “T” as in teaspoon.
Put to another use – You can also attach the tea bag to the clip.
Eliminate – The first idea I had was to also make/change more with the spoon and add like a “hanger” to the spoon for the teabag, but eliminated that idea.
Reverse – I reversed/rearranged the idea I had first with the “hanger” because the clip allready could be used as a hanger for the teabag from before.
The finished product:

I think the “new teaspoon” can be marketed towards the tea-lover! The teaspoon will not fall back on your nose anymore and mayby it can be showcased with a photo or a video of a person drinking tea showing excactly that. My mum loved the idea and are using the clip to her teaspoon while drinking tea now!

The next final task was to design a packaging for rice and it has to be different from what is out on the market. The SCAMPER method is to be applied and then do a sketch of what the packaging will look like.
Substitute – The most packaging for rice is paper box, I substituted that with a cotton fabric bag
Combine – I want to add a cup that will hang off the bag.
Adapt – The cup will be as a measuring cup for the customer to use.
Modify – The bag can be used again and filled up with rice in bulk weight.
Put to another use – You could also use the bag to store other things than rice as well.
Eliminate – I have eliminated some of the paper waste, by making a fabric bag you could reuse.
Reverse – I have reversed the original packaging by making the fabric cotton bag, which is easy to store and won´t take up so much space in the kitchen.
The finished product:
