Q1 – Lesson Task – Colour Theory

This week we learned about colour theory. There are two colour systems that we learned about called RGB and CMYK.

RGB is short for RED GREEN BLUE. It is called the additive system and it is the colors of light. It is used for digital platforms such as computer screens, digital cameras, scanners etc.

CMYK is short for CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW BLACK. It is called the subtractive system and there is no light and max ink. It is used for print.

We also got to know Adobe Colour, which is a really genius concept I think! I know this will be a really helpful tool. In Adobe Color you get to use the Colour wheel and see the colour rules.

In the Lesson task we were to develop four different colour schemes:

  1. Monochromatic

2. Complementary

3. Triadic

4. Analogous

I chose to «put» the color wheel on the color Blue and then make the four color schemes. Here are the four color schemes I made in Adobe color:

1.Monochromatic

2. Complementary

3. Triadic

4. Analogous
