Choose any one of the illustrations and answer the following questions (when submitting your feedback, also provide the illustration you chose):
- What fundamentals are used successfully? Describe what you think is the most successful aspect of the illustration (remember to focus on the fundamentals).
- Which style from the past is being used in a new way in this illustration? If no previous style is clearly apparent, does it use some form of pastiche? Why do you think this specific style or pastiche was used? Describe whether you think it was used successfully or not.
- Read again what Mondrian said about the expression of beauty or self. Which do you think played the dominant role in the execution of this illustration? Explain your thoughts.
- If you had to create this illustration, what would you think about first? (This is before you start designing it on a computer.)
- Colour (What would your approach to colour be?)
- Line (What would you like to portray with the use of line?)
- Composition (What would you wish to instil in the viewer by the use of composition alone?)
I chose the Wreck-it Ralph poster

- The fundamentals that are used successfully is the symmetry and the small color palette, it brings the design together and all the elements and illustration is not busy to look at. The «typical» action movie theme for poster is used to give the feeling of old school movie posters.
- The flat design style is minimalistic and more swiss design style from the past. It use pastiche with the classic movie posters. The style is successfully used with the placement of elements and color use.
- I think the expression of oneself has the dominant role in the illustration. It communicate a subjective viewpoint, you have to look more into it and see what the combination of form, color, line and shape tells us. The illustration is giving us a message about the usage of these elements, it creates a visual communication.
- If I where to create this illustration, I would use the similar color palette as this piece and use the approach og shadows and light. I would portray the use of line by the use of symmetry and simple shapes. In terms of composition, I would have the symmetry and headline at top, with the base illustration and smaller elements around.
